Bank & Thrift OD Revenue Falls but Credit Union OD Revenue Soars

Overdraft revenue thru September 30, 2018 increased 0.30% to $34.3 Billion from a year earlier. Overall overdraft (OD) prices stayed the same year over year (YOY). OD volume fell for bank and thrifts, but soared for credit unions. Checking accounts increased dramatically YOY after a historic decline in 2017.

 

“It is unusual for OD revenue to increase, yet show uncertainty for 2019,” says Michael Moebs, Economist & CEO of Moebs $ervices who did the Overdraft Revenue Study with the latest data available.
