DC bank fees among the highest in the country

A Moebs $ervices research study commissioned by the Federal Reserve shows that Washington D.C.-area residents pay more in banking fees than most other banking consumers in the country. Ken Williams, Moebs $ervices President, cites two factors that may contribute to the situation: many on-the-go Washingtonians rely on getting cash from a bank other than their own; high fees typically occur in areas dominated by large banks—a flurry of recent consolidations have contributed to the situation in D.C.
